Nexus 7 vs Kindle Fire which one to buy ?

With the price of $200, this is the sound of drum from Asus and Google to Amazon. Finally Google released their acclaimed 7-inch Android tablet Nexus 7, the question is, if you are looking for a tablet around $200, should you buy a new comer Nexus 7  or should you buy a popular Kindle Fire ? In term of specification, Nexus 7  comes with HD screen 720P (Fire is less) and a front camera for video chat. You may use this to take a photo of yourself or your daily activity but it won’t as good as a dual-camera tablet, but in contrast Kindle Fire offers none on camera.

While Kindle Fire runs on its unique OS that adapted from Android 2.3 OS, Nexus 7 runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the one that google has been developing. In term of functionality, the HD screen is very easy on your eyes, you don’t need to zoom in as many times as you use Kindle Fire since the screen is crisper. The only feature that I believe Kindle Fire is still a better choice is its Amazon support, because Fire is a tablet that design to be an Amazon digital media consumption tablet, so it is easy to buy to store songs, movies, apps, that is a strong suit of Amazon, but with Nexus 7 you may  need to have a little bit of technology knowledge to install app from Google app market and find the right apps. Think carefully.

With around 50 USD difference, which one to go, BB Playbook that is priced under 200 USD or Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 that is around 249 USD ? I have to say, if you want to go with the Blackberry Playbook, it means that you don’t looking for a new technology.

One thing that is a problem for budget tablets are some of them are not compatible with Android Market, so you have to use them with Amazon market or some of them cannot be used with Amazon app store at all.

But for the down size, I think  that 7 inch screen, in my opinion, don’t really get Ice-cream Sandwich enough room to work, the settings box (or any floating apps) takes up quite a space of the most one – third of the screen. I don’t have huge hands but my fingers are cover up about two of those icons, instead of just one which is not great !  so I can get a little bit difficult to navigate, but that is the only downside, so if you don’t mind smaller Tablet, this one would be good for you but if you’re on the fence, I think try it out before you buy.
